House on Huron River

2023 Detroit Design Awards Winner Addition Project and Specialty Room

The clients for the remodeling of this home on the Huron River, just west of Ann Arbor, identified the flaw in the original home – the primary suite occupied over half of the riverfront spaces in this home. When they purchased the home and met with the architect, they were open to radically changing the layout of the home so that the Great Room, Dining, Kitchen, and Media Room/Golf Simulator Spaces would all front the Huron River. The new layout integrates these spaces to be open to one another, while being defined by soaring ceilings and large windows to bring in light and views to the exterior. A new deck links all of the living spaces along the riverfront. The interior finishes of the fir ceiling, new hickory floors, platinum blue/gray millwork with navy accent pieces, glass globe lighting, silver ledgestone, and accent pieces unify these spaces to reflect the warmth of the owners in a setting where every day feels like a vacation.
